| Subject: General Role Playing Rules Sat Apr 17, 2010 7:12 pm | |
| These rules will apply when role playing. They must be followed at all times when included in a role play.
- Starting Topics.
Topics are always going to be considered open, unless it has been marked as private.
Examples: "Sally goes hunting." <- That will be considered open. "Sally goes hunting. [Private]" <- That's obviously marked private.
And there are several other ways to mark your topics.
Examples: "Sally goes hunting. [Open to two other people]" "Sally goes hunting. [Open to who are in the area]" "Sally goes hunting. [Private, PM to join]" "Sally goes hunting. [Open to Chuunin+]" And etc.
- God-modding.
God-modding is when someone’s character has the ability to do practically anything without limits or boundaries. And example is when they simply cannot be harmed by any and all means other RP-ers try.
It can be: - killing or injuring a character without the player's express permission. - when they simply can’t be hit and dodge all attacks or anything for this matter aimed at them. - using other characters that other people RP with.
Avoid god-modding during role plays, and if you are still unsure, contact a staff member to supervise your battles and spars.
- Meta-gaming.
Metagaming is the use of out-of-character knowledge in an in-character situation. A character played by a metagamer does not act in a way that reflects the character's in-game experiences and back-story.
It can be: - using certain types of attack or defense based on the strengths and weaknesses of characters the character knows nothing of. - acting on technical and/or scientific knowledge that the character is not or could not be aware of. - adjusting a character's behavior towards other player characters based on real-life relationships with other players. - using knowledge of the game's mechanics to gain an advantage in the game by having the character do something that makes no sense given the character's personality and psychology. - any action that is based upon the knowledge that one is playing a game.
Avoid meta-gaming during role plays, and if you are still unsure, contact a staff member to supervise your battles and spars.
- Topic Count.
All members are allowed to be included in three topics at the same time. However, only one may be a combat topic. We will not put limits concerning your character's location, but we ask that you keep them reasonable.
- Death[Suicide].
Unless permitted by a staff member, these are forbidden. If carried out, the user will have limits set upon him/her concerning the creation of a new character.
- Death[Combat].
Second character rules will vary depending on the user and the legitimacy of the topic. Contact staff when this happens.
- Rating.
If possible, try and keep the role play PG-13. If you are unsure whether your role playing is appropriate, contact a staff member to supervise your role plays.
- Word Count. Everyone must post at least 250 words. When we have a sufficient amount of role players registered, an in-depth word count rule will be enforced, depending on your rank.
Failure to comply will result in consequences. | |
